Driving the Creative Economy: RTA’s New Infrastructure in Al Quoz

0 13

The RTA recently finalized a massive infrastructure package in Al Quoz to boost urban connectivity. This project transforms the industrial area into a vibrant lifestyle destination by prioritizing pedestrians and smart transit over reliance on traditional cars.

The new upgrades bridge the gap between creative workspaces and public transport hubs.

Transforming the Landscape of Al Quoz

The most striking addition is the new 45-metre bridge on Al Manara Street, designed for pedestrians and cyclists. This structure features two ramps and stands 6 metres high to ensure complete safety from the heavy traffic below.

According to official RTA data, the bridge reflects the district’s artistic identity while linking it to wider neighborhoods. Visitors can now enjoy seamless movement as they explore the many galleries and studios throughout Al Quoz.

Connectivity is further enhanced by three brand new mobility hubs that support e-scooters and e-bikes for last-mile travel. These hubs integrate with 4 kilometres of fresh cycling tracks and walking paths across the heart of Al Quoz.

Residents can easily reach the Onpassive Metro Station or the local bus station without needing a private vehicle. The project aligns with the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and the innovative 20-Minute City concept for urban living.

Key Infrastructure Upgrades Completed

  • Al Manara Street Bridge: A 45-metre safe crossing for cyclists and pedestrians.
  • Three Mobility Hubs: Central points for e-mobility, bikes, and public transport integration.
  • 4 km Network: New dedicated tracks linking the district to major metro and bus stations.
  • Super Blocks Initiative: Flexible street designs that allow for temporary pedestrian-only event zones.

New Urban Experiences and Events

The Super Blocks project is a game-changer for hosting major cultural festivals, such as the Al Quoz Arts Festival. RTA can now temporarily close specific roads to vehicles, turning them into open-air plazas for art and community.

This approach fosters social cohesion and encourages a healthy outdoor lifestyle for all people visiting Al Quoz. The RTA remains dedicated to creating a people-focused transport system that supports the thriving local creative economy.

Conclusion

These infrastructure milestones mark a significant step toward making Al Quoz a world-class hub for art and innovation. By improving safety and accessibility, the RTA is ensuring the district remains a top destination for years to come.

We look forward to seeing how these new pathways and bridges will revitalize the spirit of Al Quoz. What do you think about this development in Al Quoz? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
