From Roads to Skies: Dubai’s 15-Minute Air Taxi Service Between Dubai and RAK
Air taxi service is coming to the UAE! Air taxis are coming to the UAE! By 2027, a 15-minute air taxi service will connect Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, offering a faster and more sustainable alternative to road travel. The project is a collaboration between Joby Aviation, Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA), and Skyports Infrastructure.
The partners will revolutionize travel with electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

The Future of Travel in the UAE
The air taxi service will initially connect Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah. What typically takes over an hour by car will be completed in just 15 minutes by air.
These air taxis will travel at speeds of 321 km/h (200 mph). Each vehicle will carry a pilot and four passengers, producing zero emissions. This is part of the UAE’s strategy to reduce traffic congestion and enhance sustainability.
A Sustainable and Efficient Future
The RAK Comprehensive Mobility Plan 2030 will support this air taxi service. Al Marjan Island will be home to the first vertiport for takeoffs and landings. Additional vertiports are planned across the UAE.
Joby Aviation’s aircraft are designed for efficiency. They will operate silently and produce no carbon emissions, making them an eco-friendly option for travel. This development will reduce road traffic and environmental impact.
Plans are in motion to expand the air taxi service to other UAE cities, including Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ajman, offering even more travel options. These routes will offer passengers even more destinations to choose from.
How Will Flying Taxis Affect You?
Many wonder how much it will cost to fly in an air taxi. Although pricing details are not yet available, the service promises to be faster and more efficient. It will be a game-changer for daily commuters in the UAE.
Conclusion
Dubai’s air taxi service will transform the UAE’s transport landscape. It will reduce travel times and cut traffic congestion. By 2027, air taxis will become an everyday mode of transport in the UAE, and we can’t wait to see them take flight.
