BYD ATTO 8 2026 Overview

The 2026 BYD ATTO 8, launched in 2025, arrives in the UAE as a large, three-row, electrified SUV built for families who want space without sacrificing performance. Positioned above the ATTO 3 in BYD’s lineup, the ATTO 8 blends plug-in hybrid efficiency with full-size SUV practicality, making it a serious option in the growing electrified family segment.

It is available in two trims, Premium and Performance. Both share the same core platform and seven-seat 2+3+2 layout, but they differ in battery size, power output, and driving character. The long 2,950 mm wheelbase ensures generous cabin space, while the hybrid system delivers flexibility for both daily commuting and longer road trips.

Performance

The ATTO 8 uses a plug-in hybrid system that combines a petrol engine with electric motors, offering the flexibility of electric driving for short distances and petrol power for extended journeys.

The Premium trim produces a combined 205 kW and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. It offers a pure electric WLTP range of 58 km and a total combined driving range of up to 728 km, with fuel consumption rated at 8.5 L/100 km.

The Performance trim significantly increases output to 359 kW, cutting the 0 to 100 km/h time to just 4.9 seconds. Pure electric range increases to 98 km, while combined range is rated at 668 km.

Battery capacity differs between the two. The Premium uses a 19 kWh LFP battery, while the Performance trim upgrades to a larger 35.6 kWh LFP unit. Both support 11 kW AC charging and up to 40 kW DC charging, and include Vehicle-to-Load functionality for powering external devices.

Exterior

The ATTO 8 has real presence on the road. Measuring 5,040 mm in length and nearly two metres wide, it sits firmly in the large SUV category. The clean body lines, flush door handles, roof rails, and LED lighting give it a modern and purposeful look.

Both trims include electric tailgate operation and automatic high beam headlights. The Premium rides on 20-inch wheels, while the Performance trim upgrades to 21-inch alloys for a stronger stance.

Ground clearance of at least 165 mm allows it to handle light off-road conditions and uneven terrain comfortably.

Interior

Inside, the ATTO 8 focuses on space and technology. The 2+3+2 seating layout makes it practical for larger families, and the second-row seats fold in a 4:6 split to improve flexibility.

A 15.6-inch rotating central touchscreen dominates the dashboard, paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OTA updates, 4G connectivity, and intelligent voice control are all included.

The Premium trim offers PU upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, and a comprehensive list of comfort features. The Performance trim elevates the experience with premium leather seating and expanded seat functions, including heating, ventilation, memory, and massage, depending on the position.

Both versions include dual-zone climate control, rear independent HVAC vents, PM2.5 air purification, 50W wireless charging, and a panoramic camera system.

Technology and Safety

The ATTO 8 is equipped with BYD’s DiPilot 5 driver assistance system, bringing a comprehensive list of active safety features.

These include Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limit functions, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Assistance, Automatic Emergency Braking, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, and front and rear collision warning systems.

Electronic Stability Control, Hill Descent Control, regenerative braking management, and advanced traction systems further enhance stability and safety.

The suspension setup uses a double wishbone front system and a five-link rear suspension, paired with ventilated disc brakes at both ends, ensuring the SUV remains composed despite its size.

Maintenance and Ownership

As a plug-in hybrid powered by BYD’s LFP battery technology, the ATTO 8 offers strong durability and lower maintenance needs than conventional petrol SUVs. Routine servicing includes hybrid system checks, battery inspections, and scheduled engine maintenance.

In the UAE, Al-Futtaim BYD offers service plans that provide up to 45 percent savings, with coverage of up to 5 years or 100,000 km. The plan is fully transferable, supporting resale value, and servicing is carried out at authorised BYD centres.

Comparison

In the UAE market, the ATTO 8 competes with electrified seven-seat SUVs such as the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and other large hybrid crossovers.

The Premium trim is suited for buyers prioritising efficiency and an extended combined driving range. The Performance trim is aimed at those who want stronger acceleration and a more powerful hybrid setup without sacrificing practicality.

The ATTO 8 ultimately positions itself as a family-focused electrified SUV that blends space, performance, and hybrid flexibility into one well-rounded package.
