UAE Imposes Heavy Fines for Flood Zone Entry

The UAE Ministry of Interior has issued a critical warning to all motorists regarding unstable weather conditions. As heavy rains sweep across the Emirates, authorities are cracking down on risky behavior with significant traffic fines.

The Ministry stated: “These measures are critical for maintaining public order and ensuring that emergency services can operate effectively.” Officials specifically noted that entering valleys during active water flow is a major offense with severe legal consequences.

This move aims to discourage “storm chasing” and ensure that emergency teams can operate without any issues.

Strict Enforcement and Road Safety Fines

The MOI reiterated that safety is a non-negotiable priority for all road users during storms. Entering a flooded valley, regardless of how shallow the water looks, will trigger a massive AED 2,000 penalty. Additionally, motorists who gather near dams or flood channels just to watch the rain face a AED 1,000 fine.

These strict fines are designed to prevent the tragic accidents that often occur when currents sweep away vehicles.

Violation Type Fine Amount Black Points Other Penalties
Gathering Near Valleys AED 1,000 6 Points None
Entering Flowing Valleys AED 2,000 23 Points 60-Day Impound
Obstructing Rescuers AED 1,000 4 Points 60-Day Impound
