AED 200,000 Fine for Trucks Parking on Dubai’s Main Roads!
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has introduced a new fine for trucks parking on major roads. Trucks parked illegally on main roads, especially under bridges or in restricted zones, will now face fines of up to AED 200,000.
RTA Cracks Down on Illegal Truck Parking
The RTA has launched an extensive inspection campaign targeting random truck parking. The aim is to improve traffic flow, safety, and the overall aesthetic appeal of Dubai’s roadways. Arif Shakri, director of Right-of-Way at the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, explained that unauthorized truck parking causes significant disruptions.
“Random truck parking within the right-of-way is a violation that obstructs traffic and jeopardizes safety,” he said.
The inspection campaign will include both regular and surprise checks in key areas across the city. Fines for illegally parked trucks will start at AED 5,000, but repeat offenses or serious violations can lead to penalties as high as AED 200,000.
A Stronger Focus on Road Safety
The new fine for trucks parking on Dubai’s main roads is part of the RTA’s initiative to enhance road safety. The campaign aims to reduce traffic disruptions caused by improperly parked trucks, particularly in high-traffic areas.
Shakri urged truck operators and drivers to use the designated truck rest areas across the city.
“These areas offer services like parking, refueling, and truck maintenance, helping reduce the impact on traffic flow,” he added.

The RTA has strategically placed truck rest areas along highways and main roads. These rest areas include essential amenities like prayer rooms, diesel refueling stations, restaurants, and maintenance workshops. By using these rest areas, truck drivers can avoid fines while having access to services that meet their needs. The designated facilities align with global best practices for road safety and driver comfort.
