Sharjah Police Launch Smart Radar to Instantly Fine Reckless Drivers

Sharjah Police have introduced a new smart traffic system called Rased that detects violations and issues fines instantly. The goal is to improve road safety and enforce traffic laws more effectively across the emirate. The device was launched during a road safety campaign on Al Ittihad Street.

It targets common and dangerous driving behaviors, including sudden swerving, tailgating, and failure to stay within marked lanes. By using AI, radar, and intelligent sensors, this smart system can identify violations in real time. 

Sharjah Police can then act on those violations immediately, without relying on manual checks or patrol officers on-site.

How Rased Works

This smart device is equipped with high-resolution cameras and radar sensors. It captures license plate numbers and vehicle movements. When a violation occurs, it sends that data to the central traffic control system.  

From there, Sharjah Police verify the offense and issue fines through their automated system. This process helps reduce delays and ensures enforcement is consistent, even in high-traffic areas. Unlike traditional enforcement tools, this device operates around the clock. 

It functions effectively during both daytime and nighttime, and it performs well even in poor weather conditions. The technology allows authorities to monitor traffic conditions in real time. It also reduces the need for officers to physically stop vehicles, improving safety for both drivers and enforcement teams.

Focused on Reducing Dangerous Driving

Sharjah Police developed this system to address growing concerns around unsafe driving. Violations like tailgating, illegal overtaking, and abrupt lane changes are often difficult to catch using standard patrol methods.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Alai Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrols, stated that the new system will significantly improve the detection of these violations. “Our goal is to make roads safer by using modern tools that support proactive enforcement,” he said.

He also encouraged drivers to follow all traffic rules, especially on high-speed roads where minor mistakes can have major consequences.
