Ras Al Khaimah to Enforce New Speed Limit on E18 Road from 2026

From January 2026, Ras Al Khaimah will enforce a new 80 km/h speed limit on Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Street, a.k.a E18 Road. The updated limit covers the segment between Applied Technology Schools and Al Kharran Roundabout.

This corridor experiences heavy daily traffic and serves both residential and commercial areas. Radar enforcement will begin immediately, with fines applying to vehicles clocked at 101 km/h or above.

Safety Measures Based on Risk Assessments

RAK Authorities made this decision on recent traffic safety assessments, including studies on vehicle density, land use, and reported collisions. They concluded that the previous 100 km/h limit posed safety risks in populated areas along the route.

Lowering the speed limit aims to reduce accident severity and improve the overall driving environment for both commuters and pedestrians.

Police Urge Drivers to Comply

Brigadier Ahmed Al Sam Al Naqbi from Ras Al Khaimah Police said the updated limit is for public protection. He noted that Sheikh Saqr Road is busy and passes through many neighborhoods, making speed control a top priority for public safety.

He encouraged all motorists to follow posted limits and stay alert to traffic signs.

Drivers who comply not only avoid penalties but also help reduce road injuries and fatalities,” he said.

Radar Cameras Adjusted to New Speed Limit

To support enforcement, traffic authorities confirmed that all radar systems along E18 will be recalibrated to reflect the new limit. This change ensures drivers receive consistent and fair monitoring once the rule takes effect.

Officials have advised road users to allow extra travel time when planning journeys along E18 starting next year. With the reduced limit, trips may take slightly longer, especially during peak hours. Ras Al Khaimah Police suggested similar changes on other busy roads based on traffic trends and evaluation results.

Conclusion

Ras Al Khaimah will introduce an 80 km/h limit on the E18 Road starting January 2026 to improve road safety. Officials ask all drivers to follow the new rules and stay alert to changes. Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
