Khor Fakkan Drivers Face New Parking Timings Starting February 16

Khor Fakkan

Navigating the streets of the eastern coast requires attention as Khor Fakkan implements major changes to public parking. Sharjah Municipality announced that paid parking hours will soon be extended to midnight in designated blue zones.

Starting February 16, 2026, motorists must pay for parking in these areas from 8:00 AM until midnight. This update aims to manage better high demand in commercial sectors and popular tourist spots.

Understanding the New Khor Fakkan Parking Schedule

The extension primarily affects Blue Zones, which are clearly identified by their distinct blue information parking signs. Previously, these zones followed a 10:00 PM cutoff, but the two-hour extension reflects a growing evening economy.

Unlike standard parking spaces, these specific areas require payment every single day of the week, including public holidays. Officials stated that the move follows extensive studies of occupancy rates and resident feedback.

Standard Parking Tariffs

Duration Fee Amount
1 Hour AED 2
2 Hours AED 5
3 Hours AED 8
5 Hours AED 12

Business Subscription Rates (City-Wide)

Duration Fee Amount
3 Months AED 1,050
6 Months AED 1,750
12 Months AED 2,850

Strategic Locations and Payment Methods

Drivers should look for blue signage at high-traffic destinations to ensure compliance with the law. The extended timings apply to major hubs where visitors often struggle for space.

Motorists can conveniently pay for their stay by sending an SMS to 5566 using the standard format. You simply text the plate source, plate number, and duration to receive a virtual permit within seconds. For example, a Sharjah plate holder would text “SHJ XXXX 1” to secure one hour of parking.

This unified system ensures visitors from across the UAE can manage their fees without using physical coins.

Conclusion

The decision to extend hours ensures that parking spaces remain available for genuine visitors throughout the late evening. While the timing has changed, the municipality confirmed that subscription fees for seasonal permits will not increase.

This balance supports the local commercial boom while providing better service to the community in Khor Fakkan. What do you think about this development? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
