Dubai: GAC Motor officially launched the all-new GAC GS7 PHEV in the UAE alongside local distributor Gargash Motors. The midsize plug-in hybrid SUV enters a competitive UAE family SUV market with AWD and a claimed 501 hp.

More than 50 units were sold through pre-orders ahead of the UAE launch, according to launch coverage. The pre-launch sales give GAC an encouraging start as customer deliveries begin in the UAE.

501 hp AWD Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain

The GAC GS7 uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain paired with an intelligent AWD system. Its dual-motor AWD system produces a claimed 501 hp, with GAC quoting a 0–100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds. The 36.3 kWh battery is part of a plug-in hybrid system that GAC says can deliver up to 1,020 km of combined range on the CLTC cycle.

The GS7 also uses GAC’s Megastar Intelligent Chassis and offers 200 mm of ground clearance, giving it additional clearance for uneven surfaces.

Premium Cabin Features and Intelligent Technology

Inside, the cabin features Nappa leather seating equipped with heating, ventilation, and an 8-point Shiatsu massage system. The GS7 offers reclining rear seats and a 22-speaker audio system. Up front are a 15.6” infotainment display and a 27” head-up display.

10 airbags are standard, while a 540° camera system improves visibility during parking and low-speed manoeuvres.

Conclusion

With a starting price of AED 159,900, the GS7 sits within the broader price range of several mainstream family SUVs sold in the UAE. Its 501 hp output is a headline figure at this price, although a meaningful value comparison would require equivalent trims, fuel and charging costs, servicing and warranty coverage.

More than 50 pre-launch sales indicate early interest in the GS7, though long-term demand will become clearer as deliveries begin. The launch also adds another electric SUV to GAC‘s expanding Middle East portfolio.

With 501 hp and a starting price of AED 159,900, does the GAC GS7 offer enough to tempt UAE family SUV buyers away from established rivals? Share your thoughts below, and follow ArabWheels Blog for upcoming regional test drives and UAE market analysis.
