End of an Era: Final Bugatti Bolide Delivered

0 65

The last Bugatti Bolide has officially left the factory floor, marking the end of an era of extreme performance. Built in Molsheim, France, the 40th and final Bolide is now complete. It signals the closing chapter of one of the most radical hypercar projects ever attempted.

A Concept That Became a Monster

The Bugatti Bolide was born from a bold “what if” design exercise in August 2021. The goal? To create the most extreme track-only hypercar Bugatti had ever imagined. Within just a few years, Bugatti’s engineers transformed that vision into reality.

The final design was locked in by 2022, and engineering wrapped up in early 2023. Legendary driver Andy Wallace then took the Bolide prototype to Le Mans. There, it screamed past 320 km/h on the straights.

Custom Touches on the Final Unit

The final customer car is far from ordinary. Its owner took inspiration from his classic Type 35 and Veyron Grand Sport. The exterior wears a deep ‘Black Blue’ paired with ‘Special Blue Layonnais’. Inside, it’s finished in ‘Lake Blue’ Alcantara. These personal touches give the last Bolide a timeless yet bespoke flair.

Raw Numbers, Unreal Performance

Underneath, the Bugatti Bolide is pure engineering insanity. It uses a bespoke carbon-fibre monocoque that meets FIA standards for LMh and LMDh classes. The 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 engine delivers a mind-bending 1,825 horsepower and 2,000 Nm of torque.

With a dry weight of just 1,450 kg, the power-to-weight ratio exceeds 1,100 hp per tonne. That kind of performance isn’t just rare: it’s historic. Few cars ever built can claim such outrageous stats.

A Bold Goodbye to the W16

The Bugatti Bolide represents one of the final expressions of the brand’s legendary W16 engine. As the brand shifts to hybrid powertrains in future models, this car stands as a brutal mechanical sendoff. It’s not just a car. It’s an icon in motion. A beast that pushes the limits of what’s possible on four wheels.
