6 Spinneys and Waitrose Sites in Dubai to Start Paid Parking

Shopping trips in Dubai are changing as several supermarket branches introduce Paid Parking to manage growing traffic congestion. Parkin Company PJSC recently entered a strategic partnership with major retailers Spinneys and Waitrose to operate their facilities.

This new agreement aims to improve the availability of spaces for genuine shoppers at six busy retail destinations. By leveraging advanced technology, the operator will ensure smoother traffic flow during peak hours.

Key Details of the New Parking Rules

According to the official announcement by Parkin and Spinneys, the system prioritises convenience while discouraging long-term parking. The following points summarise the essential information for residents who visit these popular grocery stores for their needs:

Impacted Supermarket Locations

The rollout affects four Spinneys outlets and two Waitrose branches located across various high-density areas in Dubai. Residents visiting Spinneys at Trade Centre Road in Karama, Motor City, Al Meydan, and Umm Suqeim will encounter Paid Parking.

Additionally, Waitrose customers at the Motor City and Al Thanya Street branches will use the new managed system. According to Sunil Kumar, CEO of Spinneys, this move ensures reliable access to stores for all loyal customers.

Parkin is now the largest parking services provider in Dubai, managing over 219,000 spaces.

Expanding the Smart Parking Network

The transition to Paid Parking reflects a broader trend of urban infrastructure optimisation within the busy emirate. Last year, the company introduced similar regulations in communities like Dubai Studio City and International Academic City.

Conclusion

These initiatives help maintain high turnover rates for parking spots in rapidly developing residential and commercial zones. As the city grows, smart management becomes vital to maintaining Dubai’s high standard of living.

Residents should download the Parkin app to easily handle Paid Parking transactions while shopping. What do you think about the introduction of these new fees at your local supermarket in the city?
