Dubai Declares Free Parking for the Prophet’s Birthday – But Watch Out for These Zones

0 140

Dubai residents are in for a treat this Friday with free parking across most public areas. The Roads and Transport Authority has announced Free Parking for Prophet’s Birthday on September 5, 2025. This move is part of the city’s celebration of the special public holiday.

But before you head out, there are a few essential details to know. Not every zone in Dubai is included in the free parking announcement.

Most Public Parking Zones Are Free

According to the RTA, all public parking spaces will be free of charge on Friday. This includes most on-street and open parking areas across the city. It’s a great relief for residents who want to move around without worrying about parking fees.

However, Free Parking for Prophet’s Birthday does not apply to all areas. You’ll still need to pay for multi-level parking facilities. These indoor parking zones will operate as usual, and charges will apply. Another key exception is the Al Khail Gate Parking Zone (N.365). Drivers parking in this area will not be exempt from fees on Friday. So if you’re heading that way, make sure your digital wallet is topped up.

RTA Adjusts Public Transport Timings

In addition to free parking, Dubai’s public transport schedule will also change for the holiday. The Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines will operate from 5 AM to 1 AM (Saturday). This gives residents more flexibility to travel across the city.

The Dubai Tram will run from 6 AM to 1 AM, offering extended hours as well. Public bus services and marine transport will follow modified timings. RTA encourages all users to check the S’hail app for updated schedules before making travel plans.

This adjustment aims to support residents who wish to enjoy the holiday without the hassle of traffic or parking.

Smart Services Still Available

While many physical RTA offices will be closed on Friday, Smart Customer Happiness Centres will remain operational. These include locations in Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Tawar, and RTA’s main headquarters.

These smart centres operate 24/7 and offer services like vehicle registration, fine payment, and Nol card management.

RTA also confirmed that vehicle testing centres will be closed for the day. Services will resume on Saturday, 6 September.

A Reminder for All Drivers

Dubai’s initiative to offer Free Parking for the Prophet’s Birthday is a thoughtful move to celebrate this significant occasion. It also highlights the city’s commitment to making life easier during public holidays. However, don’t forget—this exemption is only valid for one day.

Paid parking resumes on Saturday, so be sure to keep an eye on the time if you plan to park overnight. Avoid fines by double-checking your parking zone and confirming if it falls under the free category.

Conclusion

This Friday’s Free Parking for Prophet’s Birthday is a gift for Dubai’s drivers. Just be mindful of multi-level parking and the Al Khail Gate zone. Enjoy the long weekend, and make the most of the city’s extended transport hours.
