Al Warqa’a 1 Street Expansion Completed, Enhancing Traffic Flow
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finalised the long-awaited expansion of Al Warqa’a 1 Street, stretching 7 kilometres in both directions, from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to Ras Al Khor Road. This infrastructure upgrade aims to improve the road network, traffic flow, and overall safety for residents and commuters.

Smart Intersections and Traffic Flow Improvement
A key feature of the project was the conversion of four roundabouts into smart, signalised intersections. This change is expected to increase traffic flow by up to 30%. The expansion also includes installing advanced stormwater drainage systems totalling 6,600 meters, along with the addition of 324 new streetlights. These modern upgrades are designed to enhance safety and traffic management throughout the area.
New Infrastructure to Support Residents
In addition to the roadway improvements, the project features the creation of 111 new parking spaces and the development of pedestrian pathways across 41,000 square meters. These additions aim to improve connectivity and pedestrian safety, contributing to the overall quality of life for the area’s residents.
Long-Term Development Plans
RTA’s commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure continues, with further projects underway in the Al Warqa’a area. These include upgrades to the internal road networks of Al Warqa’a 3 and 4, including new road paving, pedestrian pathways, parking spaces, and cycling tracks. These developments aim to improve connectivity with neighbouring areas and encourage sustainable mobility options, such as cycling.

Takeaway and Next Steps
With the completion of the Al Warqa’a 1 Street expansion, Dubai continues to prioritise urban development that supports both its growing population and sustainable urban mobility goals. Further details on additional projects will be revealed as work progresses.
