Fujairah to Abu Dhabi: Breaking Down the First Etihad Rail Travel Times

0 49

The UAE’s national rail project has reached a definitive milestone. Etihad Rail has officially confirmed the first passenger routes, establishing a vital transit spine between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah. The service is designed to carry 400 passengers per trip at up to 200 km/h, targeting 10 million annual travelers.

Etihad Rail Strategic Stations

The authorities have carefully selected the first three station locations to serve the highest number of potential passengers. Each hub is located near growing residential areas to ensure Etihad Rail is accessible to daily office workers.

The transport authority is also focusing on first- and last-mile solutions to connect these stations to local buses. This integration will include partnerships with ride-hailing services like Yango to ensure a smooth journey.

Passengers will be able to choose between several seating classes, including a premium business class for a comfortable ride. The architects designed the station facades to be open and welcoming for the millions of travelers expected every year.

  • Abu Dhabi Station:
Located in Mohamed bin Zayed City, positioned strategically opposite the popular Dalma Mall and Mussafah area.
  • Dubai Station:
Situated within the Jumeirah Golf Estates community, offering easy access to the southern residential districts of the city.
  • Fujairah Station:
Located in the Sakamkam neighborhood, which sits conveniently near the Al Hilal City development and the coast.

Transforming Intercity Travel Forever

Travel times will be slashed significantly once the national passenger service becomes fully operational across the seven different emirates.

  • A journey from Abu Dhabi to Dubai is expected to take only 57 minutes on the standard train line.
  • Traveling from the capital to the east coast of Fujairah will take approximately 105 minutes in total comfort.

These figures represent a 30% reduction in travel time when compared to driving during busy peak hours. By moving 400 passengers per trip, Etihad Rail will effectively remove thousands of cars from the congested UAE roads.

The project reflects a long-term national investment that will benefit the economy and the environment for generations.

Conclusion

The arrival of the Etihad Rail passenger service marks the beginning of a brand new era for the UAE. Residents can finally look forward to a reliable, congestion-free alternative to long, tiring highway drives. With stations taking shape in key neighborhoods, the dream of a connected nation is quickly becoming a reality.
