Dubai has officially launched its first large-scale deployment of electric buses to redefine the urban commuting experience. This landmark arrival of 40 specialized Zhongtong vehicles represents the initial phase of a massive 735-bus procurement contract. 

This extensive agreement covers 549 city-service buses from MAN and Zhongtong, 76 Volvo double-deckers, and 70 articulated Isuzu Anadolu models. Authorities state that these zero-emission machines are custom-engineered to handle the extreme desert temperatures and high humidity of the Gulf.

This allows the fleet to complete full daily shifts without returning to the depot for a recharge. To support this uptime, the RTA utilizes 360-kilowatt ABB chargers capable of rapid energy replenishment during the night.
