Abu Dhabi Supercar Auction Surpasses AED 312 Million in Sales

The first Abu Dhabi Supercar Auction by RM Sotheby’s became the most successful collector car auction in the Middle East. The event raised AED 312.17 million (approximately $85.06 million), showcasing the region’s growing importance in the luxury automotive market.

A Record-Breaking Auction

The star of the Abu Dhabi Supercar Auction was a 1994 McLaren F1, which sold for AED 92.88 million ($25.31 million). This rare model, one of only 64 road cars ever built, was originally delivered to the Brunei Royal Family. 

It was updated by McLaren in 2007 and sold at a record price, setting a new benchmark for McLaren at auction. Other top lots included a 2026 McLaren Formula 1 Team MCL40A, which sold for AED 42.16 million ($11.48 million). 

This was a historic sale, as it was the first time a Formula 1 car was sold before racing. The lucky buyer could choose between an Oscar Piastri or Lando Norris chassis and watch it compete in the upcoming season.

The Cars That Stole the Spotlight

Along with the McLaren F1, other notable sales included a 2006 Pagani Zonda Riviera, which went for AED 37.2 million ($10.13 million), and a 2027 McLaren United AS WEC Hypercar Team, which sold for AED 27.9 million ($7.59 million). 

These vehicles helped total sales surpass AED 312 million, showing the Middle East’s strong demand for luxury cars. The auction also featured modern competition cars, like a 2026 Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team Dallara-Chevrolet DW12, which fetched AED 3.1 million ($848,750). 

These cars were sold with VIP packages that included factory visits and exclusive access to the teams.
